Untapped have worked with ANZ over the last two years to introduce a team of nine neurodiverse individuals to the fields of cybersecurity, software testing and data analytics. The team in cybersecurity – working part time hours – delivered over a year of output in under six months. After twelve months, ANZ made four of the team permanent employees and were so impressed by their capabilities that they introduced a new team of seven.
The cybersecurity team continued learning and making significant contributions, including reducing some manual processes by approximately 76% by automating tasks and reducing the time they took by many weeks. One team member went from washing cars daily to re-engineering malware in less than six months.
The testing team switched to data analytics, which resulted in team members needing to retrain. They embraced these changes and confidently learnt new skills in Python and data warehousing.
At the end of their second year, ANZ made another four of the team permanent employees! Undertaking placements with other business units the team continues to demonstrate the benefits of having a neurodiverse workforce.
